    • April 22: Settlement established on Unassigned Lands of the United States.[2]
    • Oklahoma Times, Weekly Oklahoman, and Oklahoma Gazette newspapers begin publication.[3]
  • 1890
    • Town charted in Oklahoma Territory.[2]
    • W.J. Gault becomes mayor.
    • Population: 4,151.[4]
  • 1896 – January: Statehood convention held.[5]
